Fishing

Michael B. Karas is an avid salt-water fly fisherman, and always has his fly rod nearby.

"TO HIM,  ALL GOOD THINGS---TROUT AS WELL AS ETERNAL SALVATION---COME BY GRACE AND GRACE COMES BY ART AND ART DOES NOT COME EASY."

-Norman MacLean- A River Runs Through It

"I spend as much time observing and absorbing nature when I'm out on the water as I do fishing.  It's imperative to me.  Sometimes when I'm painting, I find that technical edge comes from those special moments, spent on the water."

He believes observation is the key in creating a painting. The time of day he enjoys fishing, early morning before sunrise or early evening at sunset, is also the same time of day he artfully captures on canvas.

Mr. Karas thoroughly enjoys the sport of inshore salt water fly-fishing. All catches in these photos, were released.

Michael B. Karas was awarded a Catch Certificate by the International Game Fish Association
for his catch of a Lifetime...a Snook measuring 45 inches. The fish was caught and released while wading in the water off Sanibel Island, Florida.
